Upcoming publication: Finland’s international climate financing

The audit examines how well the steering system of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs promotes the cost-effectiveness of the state’s climate financing to developing countries. Information on the cost-effectiveness of the financing will become increasingly important in the future. The annual climate financing provided by Finland has been about EUR 40–120 million in recent years, and it is expected to grow according to Prime Minister Sanna Marin's Government Programme and the operating and financial plans of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The aim of the audit is to support the prerequisites for cost-effective climate financing and thereby the long-term cost-effectiveness of climate financing. Through Supreme Audit Institutions’ international cooperation, the results of the audit can also contribute to the climate-financing-related discussion, planning and assessment at the international level.
