Investigation of economic crimes and recovery of criminal proceeds

The objective of the audit is to examine whether police investigations of economic crimes and the recovery of criminal proceeds have been effective. The audit examines the target-setting, steering and the appropriateness of resource allocation in police investigations of economic crimes. Current challenges in investigations of economic crimes include long investigation times, a growing backlog, increasing complexity of cases and the adequacy of investigative resources. Changes in the operating environment are also reflected in the development and steering of economic crime investigations.
