Preparation and decision-making related to NATO
Report to be published: 28.05.2026 at 06.45NATO membership constitutes a very important and new form of international cooperation for Finland with considerable implications for central government finances. At the initial stage of the membership, it is justified to assess whether the Government has established effective and appropriate procedures and structures for NATO-related preparation and decision-making. The audit assesses, in particular, the preparation of NATO matters, the formulation of Finland’s positions, Finland’s influence within NATO structures, the flow of information, and the assessment and presentation of economic impacts.
