Urban and metropolitan policy
On the basis of the audit the implementation of urban and metropolitan
policy has been in line with objectives, but measures have
had side effects that are contrary to regional development objectives.
These side effects could sharpen differences in the development
of regions and urban areas and weaken citizens’ well-being. The audit examined the implementation, coordination and steering
of urban and metropolitan policy and the achievement of related
objectives. Metropolitan policy, i.e. policy regarding the Helsinki
metropolitan area, was examined as part of regional development as
a whole. This document contains a summary of the main results of the audit. The entire audit report is available only in Finnish.
