The National Audit Office of Finland (NAOF) audits the state’s financial management and the activities of public administration, monitors fiscal policy and oversees political party and election campaign funding and the use of the Finnish Transparency Register.

Oversight of political advertising
The NAOF is the principal law enforcement authority and the national contact point for the Regulation on the transparency and targeting of political advertising.

The NAOF produces independent and impartial audit information on central government finances and the state’s financial management. The audit information produced by the NAOF enables authorities to develop their activities and financial management. The published audit information also implements the central government’s accountability to Parliament and the public.

Oversight of election campaign and political party funding
The National Audit Office of Finland (NAOF) oversees election campaign and political party funding. The oversight supports open government and democracy. When the funding used in election campaigns and political party activities and its sources are known, it is, for example, possible to assess the candidates’ and political parties’ ties to third parties.
