Date: Thursday 28 November 2019

Venue: Finlandia Hall, Helsinki, Finland

The National Audit Office of Finland organised a high-level international seminar “Building Trust – the Role of Supreme Audit Institutions in Ensuring the Reliability of Fiscal Data” in cooperation with Statistics Finland and in the context of Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The seminar focused on auditing the information base of fiscal policy. The topics of the seminar formed a broad perspective to fiscal data, covering public sector accounting, reporting, fiscal statistics and forecasts. These topics were examined with the aim to provide different viewpoints: how to ensure the reliability of fiscal data, how are fiscal statistics and forecasts used in fiscal policy planning and decision-making, what are the development needs of public sector accounting standards and reporting practices.
